Last season was a pretty hard one for Aston Villa and their new manager Paul Lambert, as the young team he put faith in found itself embroiled in the relegation struggle for much of the season – so you would have to put bets on next season being exactly the same, right?

The Barcelona striker David Villa has said that he does not expect to hit top form immediately after his return to the first-team. The former has a striker was injured for the last eight months after breaking his tibia in the Club World Cup match in December.

As a result of the injury, he had to miss a number of crucial matches and tournaments including the Euro 2012. The 30-year-old striker, however, has recovered sufficiently in order to be part of the Barcelona first-team in the opening few matches of the season. He was a 75th minute substitute in the match against Real Sociedad.
