David Villa originally signed a 10 match long loan deal with Melbourne City but he was recalled by New York City FC sooner than initially expected and now the Spanish forward has returned to the MLS.

The experienced attacker scored twice in 4 appearances when performing with Melbourne City and the manager of the club thanked Villa for his contributions to the team as he also attracted attention to the Australian team as they received more attendance than before due to the Spanish forward.

When Villa was asked if he has in his plans making a return to Australia and performing with another club of that country, Villa responded by saying that he is unsure of what will happen in the future.

“I don’t know if I’ll be going back yet. It’s complicated not being able to compete and play. It was real good to have the month in Australia. It’s different, but I’m training well. I’m working well, so when it’s time to compete I’ll be in the best shape. And it gives me more desire and excitement to compete and when the day comes I’m going to have double the excitement than when I was playing before’’ David Villa told the media.

There has recently been a rise in the number of Spanish players that have arrived lately to the MLS with David Villa forming part of this new trend in the American League. Jose Mari, Armando, Ruben Bover, Antonio Dovale and Uri Rosell are some of the Spanish players that have been making their way to the MLS in recent years and David Villa believes that the number of Spanish players will continue to increase in the next few years.

“I’m convinced that there will be more Spanish players and European players coming here because the league is growing a lot and the expectations of the league are growing a lot. It’s getting more and more attractive for players in Spain and Europe.” Former Barcelona player, David Villa added on as he voiced his opinion concerning all of the players that have been arriving to the MLS.
