INIESTA WELCOMES VILLA BACK

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has said that he is extremely happy to see his fellow teammates David Villa return from injury after having not seen him in action for the Catalan club for the last six months.

The former Valencia star was injured while playing for the club in the Club World Cup in Japan. Initially, he was expected to return in time for the Euro 2012, but he could not make sufficient progress that would see his inclusion into the team. Spain then went on to retain the Euro 2012, and thus making history. Villa was unable to lift the trophy, despite being one of the celebrated players in the country.

His injury has now healed completely and the new Barcelona manager Tito Villanova was recently expressing his confidence about the availability of Villa in the first team action. He has recently started training with his teammates, which has given a huge amount of joy for the midfielder Andres Iniesta. The 28-year-old midfielder is one of the favourites to win the world player of the year award after his exploits with Spain earned him the player of the tournament award. Barcelona have already played a few friendly matches as part of the pre-season tour and Villa will now be joining the squad.

“He looks great to me considering he’s been injured for so long. It’s lovely to see him training because he’s such a fundamental player and we hope it won’t be long before he’s back doing what he does best – score goals,” said the Barcelona midfielder. It is expected that the new Barcelona manager Tito Villanova will hand David Villa some playing time in the pre-season friendly match against Manchester United. This will be a repeat of the 2011 Champions League final, in which Barcelona won 3-1.
