LUQUE BACKS SOLDADO

Albert Luque has said that he expects David Villa to be part of the Euro 2012 squad for the Spanish national team only if he is in good form.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque dropped Chelsea striker Fernando Torres after a poor run of form has not seen the former Liverpool striker score a goal since October.

Albert Luque thinks that Barcelona striker David Villa will also have the same fate if he does not prove his form in time for the Euro 2012. David Villa is currently recuperating from the tibia fracture he suffered earlier in the season while playing in the Club World Cup.

Even though David Villa recently stressed the fact that he expects to be back into the Spanish squad for the Euro 2012, Albert Luque is of the opinion that Vicente del Bosque is not the kind of coach to take a player who is not in top form to a major tournament.

Former Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado has become the most important man in Spain, as is the only major striker fit and firing on all cylinders. The striker recently made his appearance at the international level after a five-year gap and managed to score a hat-trick.

“Because of my surgery, I run into Villa a lot and I wish him a speedy recovery. He told me he will only go to Euro 2012 if he is the true David Villa again. He prefers not to go than to be a disappointment. He is Spain’s top scorer, a lot will be demanded from him,” Luque told Punto Pelota about the future of David Villa in the Euro 2012 squad.

The 30-year-old is currently facing a race against time in order to be fit for this major tournament, which Spain will be defending. With Villa and Torres leading the line surely Spain are the team you should be sticking your Euro 2012 free bets online on.
