NOT HAPPY ON THE BENCH

The Barcelona attacker David Villa has said that he is certainly not happy with life at the camp Nou due to the fact that he is not starting matches. It is almost a year since the Barcelona forward suffered a terrible injury that has kept him out of the major competitions including the Euro 2012.

However, he has made his return to the first-team action at the start of this new season. He has also been extremely influential in the matches he has played and he has already got eight goals. Yet, the Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has not been starting him in matches, which is a source of frustration for the former Valencia striker.

This has led to rumours linking him with moves to various clubs abroad including the European champions Chelsea, who are looking at the possibility of signing Villa in order to recreate the Spanish attack in West London. Fernando Torres has produced his best football for the Spanish national team when playing alongside David Villa, and it is thought that Chelsea are interested in the possibility of securing the services of the striker in the January transfer window. Vilanova has said that David Villa just needs to be patient in order to get back into the first-team, while the striker has said that he feels that he can now complete 90 min of football as he has completely recovered.

“The fact that I haven’t been used to playing regularly means I am less patient. But I’m ready to play and I know my leg will respond to 90 minutes of action,” Villa said recently. “Villa is recovering the role he had before … but it also depends on him,” said the Barcelona manager in response. Villa now has five goals in the la Liga and three in the cup competitions.
