David Villa can’t have much to apologeise for – he has scored some of the most important goals in the history of football at both Barcelona and for Spain – but such is his drive to constantly be improving taht he counts games without goals as failures.

Speaking after their 2-0 win, Villa was disappointed that the team didn’t back up Lionel Messi as much as they should have done.

“It cost us a lot to close out this game. We had possession and a lot of chances but were not as assertive in front of goal as we have been,” he told UEFA

“Our main goal scorer is Lionel Messi, but the second line of attackers also have to get on the score sheet. We could have scored another tonight.”

Next time David, next time! 🙂
