Barcelona striker David Villa has declared it an honour to play alongside Lionel Messi in the Barca attack after both players scored in a 3-0 win away to Racing Santander.

The former Valencia striker netted the third in a comfortable win at El Sardinero after Messi and Andres Iniesta had earlier given them a two goal lead and El Guaje said it was easy to play with Messi.

“It is an honour to play in this team and with players like Messi, the best player in the world. Whoever does not fit in with him, doesn’t deserve to be in this team,” Villa told AS, before stating that he felt the team is strong enough to deal with the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“I do not manage the squad but we have shown today and in the Super Cup that we are able to to do well with the squad we have.”
