VILLA MAKES AN IMPACT

Former Barcelona player David Villa signed with Athletic Madrid on July 8 of 2013. It was rather obvious that the Spanish forward did not want to leave the club but he failed to make part in the plans of the coach.

With the addition of the Brazilian superstar Neymar, there really was no place left for Villa in Barcelona as they wanted to make an energetic, fast paced team build around Lionel Messi.
From the looks of it Barcelona made an excellent transfer as David Villa continues underperforming in his new club Athletic Madrid.

The return of Diego Costa to Athletic Madrid has really taken a toll to Villa as he has been eclipsed by the rampant form of the 25 years old player who has been playing consistent each week and each match he participates in. The last goal that Villa managed to score was back in September which is a huge amount of time for someone with the trajectory and expectations that David Villa had upon joining the club.

The latest betting online makes Atletico slim favourites to make it into the Champions League next season, something that will please Villa fans, and are available at just under 40/1 to win it next season!

A total of 13 games having played in this season with Madrid and only 3 goals scored so far, it’s no doubt that he is going through a dry run that no striker wants to be in but that might change in Athletic Madrid’s upcoming match against Betis, a team that Villa has a impressive record when playing and the best of times for him to recover from his series of disappointing performances.

It’s the revival not only Villa wants to see happen but also Athletic Madrid as they are currently standing in the 2nd place position of La Liga and with more victories it’s just what the team needs to put on the pressure against the table toppers Barcelona.
